Capítulo Bogotá del Movimiento Nacional de Víctimas de Crímenes de Estado (Movice)

Since its formation, the National Movement of Victims of State Crimes (Movice) vindicates the victims of crimes committed by the Colombian State, whether by action or omission. As a movement, it clearly demands the restoration of the rights to truth, justice, integral reparation, guarantee of non-repetition and the memory of hundreds of thousands of men and women who bet on building a Colombia in peace and with social justice.

The Bogotá Chapter is one of the 17 active chapters of the Movice and, as such, has autonomy in the approach of its agenda and its own protection measures according to its needs. It is made up of volunteers, mostly survivors of state crimes, family members and university students. Among the actions carried out in the fight against impunity are:

  • A public gallery of memory, organized regularly in different places of Bogotá. It shows photos of victims of state crimes for the vindication of their rights.
  • Private or public events on the anniversaries of victim family members.
  • Sit-ins to protest in front of special chambers where the military are judged within the framework of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) and other State institutions.
  • Own advocacy work and dissemination of messages of the Bogotá Chapter.

At the national level, Movice is a pioneering organization in the field of historical memory and the fight against impunity. In this sense, their work can be perceived as a “stone in the shoe” for the institutions of the State and public force to whom they question. SweFOR Colombia accompanies the Bogotá Chapter of Movice since the end of 2019 in its activities in the Colombian capital, through weekly rounds through the institutional headquarters and through self-protection workshops.
